Manchester United are traveling to Anfield on Monday night, and judging by recent examples of the fixture from years gone by we will be subjected to some absolutely abhorrent chants from the away fans, the home fans will claim that the other club are a disgrace, and then when the fixture is reversed both parties will swap sides and do the exact same thing.
It's predictable, it's disgraceful, it's a minority (albeit a vocal set) of fans, and it needs to stop.
That is why these great rivals have come together, well, their PR departments have, and preempted the sub-human bullshit with a statement claiming that any fans who are who are seen by stewards or on CCTV risk arrest and prosecution.
There is great rivalry between our fans and we ask all supporters to be respectful and help eradicate all forms of offensive and discriminatory behaviour from the game.
If any supporters are found to be engaged in any form of offensive or discriminatory behaviour by stewards or via CCTV then they will be immediately removed from the stadium, risk arrest, prosecution and be reported in accordance with the club’s ground regulations.
This is an unrivaled fixture in the Premier League calendar and we thank all fans for their continued support in this important area of the game.
As this game kicks off at 8pm, the assumption that most of the crowd will have more than a few pints on board is clear, and valid to be totally honest.
Will this stop the absolute morons who think mocking the dead to make other people angry is part of being a football fan? Probably not, but it is a threat that these goons will be thrown out on their arse and banned from future matches, and that is something that absolutely necessary.
A reminder folks, you're not funny or clever if you attend a football match with the purpose of participating in that sort of shite, you're just an arsehole.
