Steven Gerrard's departure from Liverpool and a move to LA Galaxy was confirmed yesterday. The Liverpool captain will join the MLS side on an 18-month contract.
So Liverpool now look to replacement their talisman. Aston Villa and England midfielder Fabian Delph was linked with a move to Anfield last month, that was two weeks prior to Gerrard's announcement that he would be leaving at the end of the season.
The Times have another name today - James Milner. Like Delph, the Man City player is out of contract at the end of the season and according to the paper he has already told teammates that he believes he will not be at the Etihad next season. He rejected a new deal last month and is unlikely to receive an improved offer.
Other suitors for Milner include Inter Milan, Roma and Arsenal but Liverpool have been long-term admirers and are in "pole position" to sign the 29-year-old according to The Times.
