Liverpool FC have signed a player who's signing contributed to a recruitment ban for Barcelona's prestigious La Masia academy.
Bobby Adekanye is one of nine players who Barcelona recruited to La Masia under circumstances that saw the Catalan club imposed with a transfer ban for wrongdoing during the recruitment of international youngsters. The players who were involved were also banned from playing for any Barcelona side until they turn 18, thus many of them are looking to secure playing time at such an important age elsewhere.
Liverpool have benefited from this, as they have managed to persuade Adekanye to come to Anfield after a season on loan at PSV where he impressed for the youth sides of the Dutch champions.
Here's a highlight video of his time at PSV:
And the La Masia twitter account who confirmed the deal also gave a brief description of how he plays:
It will be interesting to see if we hear any more from Bobby Adekanye in the next few years, as he is believed to be one of the most talented players in his age group.
