With the summer transfer window now very much underway, we have been given little indication as to what is to come for Caoimhín Kelleher at Liverpool.
The Irishman has reportedly made it clear that he would like to leave to the club this summer and establish himself as a no. 1 elsewhere. From the club's perspective, they seem keen to keep him at Anfield but would consider moving him on if a sizeable bid was sent their way.
As for what an acceptable transfer fee would be, it has been speculated that Liverpool would look for around £25million in order to sanction any deal. Many believed this to be an unrealistic asking price for a player who has never had a sustained run of first team football up to this point in his career.
However, another recent transfer deal makes their demands for the 24-years old seem a lot more reasonable.
Liverpool fans make Caoimhín Kelleher comment after Burnley deal
James Trafford is someone who will not be all that familiar to many football fans, although he was very impressive while on loan at Bolton Wanderers from Manchester City last season. The 20-year old goalkeeper kept 22 clean sheets as the club finished fifth in League One.
While he is an impressive talent, there were some eyebrows raised when it emerged that Burnley agreed to pay a fee of up to £19million to sign him this summer.
Liverpool fans certainly took notice of it, believing that Caoimhín Kelleher's value well surpasses a player who has never played a first team game for Manchester City.
If James Trafford ( no senior exp with City) is worth £19m, how much is Kelleher worth? Must be pushing £25-30m

If Trafford is 20m Kelleher is 30 at least

If this Trafford is going for 20m that means Kelleher is worth £40m

Surely this puts Caoimhin Kelleher’s valuation at about £45 million then

Caoimhin Kelleher was valued at 10-15m recently from reports and this guy goes for 19?! He’s never played a game above league 1! City stinks… 🕵️♂️

19m? Surley Caoimhin Kelleher is a better option for @BurnleyOfficial crazy how Trafford is 19m yet teams like spurs and Brentford didn’t want to pay that for Kelleher !? I don’t want us to sell but if he was to leave id want us to get Atleast 30m after reading that ^^

Liverpool will certainly be encouraged by the fee Manchester City received in this deal, boosting hopes that they could get a very significant windfall if they opted to sell Caoimhín Kelleher this summer.
In saying that, the list of potential destinations for the Irishman is shrinking fast after a number of clubs he was linked with already signed alternative options in recent weeks.
Hopefully he is able to get the move that he so desperately needs to bring his career to the next level.
