Sean Cox is back on Irish soil, but remains in a critical condition according to a report by Dublin Live. The 53-year-old was attacked by Roma fans hours before Liverpool kicked off their Champions League first leg semi-final against Roma in Anfield on April 24, with the report stating the Dunboyne native is now recovering in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
Cox suffered serious head injuries and had to be placed in a medically induced coma in order to undergo brain surgery after the unprovoked attack.
Daniel Sciusco and Filippo Lombardi were arrested after the incident, with Sciusco admitting a charge of violent disorder, and Lombardi pleading not guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm.
After the incident a Go Fund Me page was set up to raise funds for the Meath native, with over €90,000 raised to help pay for Cox's medical bills.
Cox's wife Martina released a statement with Liverpool thanking people for their support:
There are no words to describe the gratitude we feel to the ordinary people of Liverpool and Ireland who have taken Sean to their hearts in a way that underlines why those places have such a deserved reputation for generosity and solidarity.
Every day letters and cards arrive from this country, from Ireland and beyond.
Every one of them wishes us well and the accompanying offers of support have reminded us, even in our darkest moments, that we are not walking alone.
Clive Tyldesley has also promised auction off his Champions League final notes and will donate whatever they raise to Sean Cox and his family:

Liverpool Head of Club and Supporter Liaison Tony Barrett confirmed Tyldesley's generous gesture in a tweet:
One of the very best in the business & one of the nicest fellas around. Clive has donated his final Champions League commentary notes so they can be auctioned to raise funds for the family of Sean Cox. The exact details are still to be finalised but what a magnificent gesture. https://t.co/t7eS7QawuO
