A Liverpool fan was seen being told to put away an Irish flag when entering Anfield in their Champions League tie with Rangers.
During the game a Liverpool fan was pictured having a Celtic flag removed from them. While it may be viewed as heavy handed, recent events have shown this may be a good idea.

The two clubs are well known for their differences when it comes to issues that divides the British public. A prime example can be seen in the death of Queen Elizabeth.
Rangers defied UEFA rules and sang the National Anthem, while Liverpool were appealed to show full respect in a moment’s silence, due to their views towards the British government.
Despite UEFA's warnings, the club did not receive any sanctions, while Celtic received a hefty fine for their display against the Queen.
In May, several arrests of Rangers fans were made as fans of the club clashed with Frankfurt fans at the Europa League final.
With Liverpool dropping points further points at the weekend and Rangers needing a win after two heavy defeats in their opening two Champions League games.
In an all British tie at Anfield, it was Jurgen Klopp’s side who dominated the game in a comfortable 2-0 victory at Anfield.

A spectacular free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold and a penalty from Mohamed Salah secured victory for Liverpool, with Rangers goalkeeper Alan McGregor making several saves to stop Liverpool adding to their lead.

The victory puts Liverpool back in contention for top spot in the group, while Rangers are on the verge of elimination following their third straight defeat in the group.
Thankfully, all of the headlines from tonight’s game was from incidents on the pitch, this game had the potential to cause serious problems for security and police.
Hopefully the return game in Ibrox next week can proceed without disruption.
