It will be a long summer for Liverpool fans after their devastating exit from the Champions League on Saturday night. Two horrendous errors from Lloris Karius meant that Liverpool left Kiev empty handed, but with a new found vigour to finally buy a decent goalkeeper. Over the past few days numerous targets have been touted, with the main runners seen as Roma's Alisson Becker, Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak and AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Italian news outlet Corriere Dello Sport are reporting that Liverpool could be tempted to sign 19-year-old Donnarumma after the Italian's price tag was slashed from £61 million to £35 million. The lowering of the asking price is thought to do with the Milan struggles with Financial Fair Play rules, with rumours suggesting that the Rossoneri may be omitted from next season's Europa League due to FFP.
Meanwhile Atletico Madrid are doing their best to hang on to Jan Oblak, with AS reporting the Madrid side plan to extend the 25-year-old's release clause to €200 million. Oblak is one of the most sought after goalkeepers in Europe and won the coveted Zamora trophy for the third season in a row, keeping 22 clean sheets as Atleti finished second in La Liga
Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil spoke about Oblak's future on Spanish radio recently confirming the club's wish to increase the Slovenian's release clause:
He wants to stay with us and we want him to stay. We are going to try and make his release clause higher.
Roma's Alisson Becker will have to force a move from the Italian side, according to their sporting director Monchi. The 49-year-old refuted that the club had received any offer for the player and also stated that the Serie A side are happy to keep the Brazilian number one:
In order for a player to leave, there have to be three elements in place – an offer, a yes from the club and from the player. As of today, we have nothing of the sort. We are happy to keep him. Transfer rumours are normal at this stage.
Again, as I said before, it's going to be a long summer for Liverpool fans.
