New Balance today confirmed that a 4th new Liverpool jersey of the season will be going on sale later this week, and before we get into details about why some of the fans are justifiably upset by some of the decisions made, we must say the latest release is a beauty.
Along with the red home jersey, the white/green away jersey, and the bright orange alternate jersey, a 'blackout' jersey has been unveiled as a limited edition release in celebration of the club's 125th anniversary.
It's essentially the home jersey if it were to be worn by Batman, and it looks outstanding.
Celebrating 125 years of #LFC.

Very nice indeed.
The jersey is the final piece of the '247 Pitch Black Collection' and is due to go on sale on September 21st.
Unfortunately, many of the Liverpool fans who were excited by this new jersey were soon feeling frustrated as they discovered that not only was the official store asking for a ridiculously steep £90 for it, but that the players will never wear it on the pitch.
It is not uncommon for clubs to release special commemorative kits and use them in one-off games these days, and many expected this Liverpool jersey to feature in a similar way, but it seems that this is a collector's item only.
How is a jersey (any jersey) ever worth £90?? stop ripping us off, its only players that are on big money not fans but treat us like we are

£90 what a bargain! Can't wait to see FSG put that money back into strengthening the team in January....... #NoThanks

90 pounds? I'd rather get the full sleeve home kit with champions league badges and mane on the back for that much.

For 90 bucks, it better:
1) Know the words to YNWA.
2) Include a free match ticket.— Ziyaad (@ZIYAAD_LFC) September 18, 2017
It does seem ridiculously steep, but as it is a limited edition there should be no problem shifting them.
The price of football jerseys, much like the players that wear them, seems to be only going one way although you can always find a cheaper option if you shop around. It remains to be seen if this blackout jersey will be sold anywhere other than the official club store, and if it is you can expect the price to come down.
If it is too expensive to justify, the good news is that the rest of the 247 Pitch Black collection is rather nice too.
That hoody is an absolute cracker. You can check out the 247 Pitch Black collection in full over on the official Liverpool store.
