Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has set his sights on a move for Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey, after having a bid rejected for the player in the summer transfer window.
The Mirror are reporting that the German is keen on bringing the Welsh midfielder to Merseyside, with the player's contract set to expire next summer. Contract talks with the player have recently broke down, with Unai Emery and Arsenal apparently unwilling to match the his wage demands.
This has put a number of teams in Europe on alert, with Ramsey able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a side on the continent in January. Juventus are said to be interested in his services, while recently departed Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis has urged his new club AC Milan to pursue the 27-year-old.
Arsenal are apparently open to selling the player in January to recoup some sort of fee, although he may choose to play out the season and move on a Bosman at its conclusion.
The Ramsey situation is yet another example of Arsenal's ineptitude in dealing with expiring contracts within their squad, and they have repeatedly left themselves accepting below market fees for their players as a result.
Robin van Persie left to join Manchester United in 2012 having run down his contract to the final year, while Alexis Sanchez moved to Old Trafford on cut-price fee in January with only five months remaining on his deal.
