The French adventure for the Republic of Ireland and our fans has come to a close. It was a magical few weeks, with all sort of highlights. The Irish team made us proud, and the fans were a credit a to the country.
They cleaned up after themselves, they sang to nuns, they sent babies to sleep, and they serenaded French girls.
The French loved us, the rest of Europe loved us. We're a great bunch of lads and ladies.
Now that the journey is over, the President of Ireland, Michel D Higgins decided to give the Irish fans in France the praise that they deserved:
