Lionel Messi will have to make some more room in his overflowing trophy cabinet it would seem after his Champion's League strike against Roma was overwhelmingly voted as the UEFA.com goal of the season, it was announced today.
The Argentine capped off a wonderful Barcelona team move to score in their 6-1 drubbing of Roma, exchanging passes with Neymar and Luis Suarez along the way before delicately lobbing former Arsenal 'keeper Wojciech Szczesny in absolutely glorious fashion - garnering more than one-third of the public votes along the way.

Messi beat strikes from Ricardinho in the Futsal championships and Xerdan Shaqiri's stunning bicycle kick for Switzerland against Poland in the Euros came in third place.
Somewhat surprisingly, Messi isn't in the running for the UEFA Best Player in Europe gong with that honour going to one of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Antoine Griezmann. We can only assume that there has been some sort of clerical error which removed Robbie Brady from the shortlist...
