Hull City manager Liam Rosenior says the English Championship side buying a majority stake in League of Ireland club Dundalk is a "great idea".
The Argus reported this weekend that Hull are "closing in" on a takeover of Dundalk.
In an open letter to Dundalk supporters posted to the club's website on Friday, owners Sean O'Connor, Alan Clarke and Andy Connolly, confirmed they "remain in talks with three different groups" and that these "discussions include all scenarios of investment, shareholding, and ownership" but "absolutely nothing has been agreed or finalised". It was also added that they "are not trying to sell the club".
Rosenior: Dundalk takeover 'great idea'
"I think it’s massive," Rosenior told BBC Humberside when asked about the possible deal.
"I think the top clubs are doing it, Manchester City, a club I know really well, Brighton are doing it. It’s a really good idea and I think it shows the ambition of this football club, where we want to get to.
"So if it’s in the best interest of Dundalk, and it’s in the best interest of us as a football club, which I’m sure it is, I think it’s a great idea and it’s something I completely support.”

Rosenior added that Hull owner Acun Ilicali has "completely" shared his plans regarding Dundalk.
"That’s why I love working here," said Rosenior.
"They are so open and tell me everything about where they want to go, what the short-term plan is, what the long-term vision is for the club. So I’ve been well aware of every eventuality. That’s why I enjoy working for them.
"I don't know [if it will happen]. I'm not at the sharp edge of the deal. I've got enough to worry about day-to-day in my role with the club.
"It’s something that if it happens, then great, and if it doesn’t, then I’m sure we’ll keep striving to be successful.”
