Despite problems with the Tickets.ie website, there have been strong ticket sales for the Liam Miller tribute match.
Tickets for the game, which takes place at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on September 25th, went on sale on Monday morning at 10am. There were initial issues but those have since been resolved. The sheer number of people attempting to purchase tickets at the same time was the cause according to organisers.
38,000 tickets have been sold for the game. That number consists of the 7,000 which were sold when the match was scheduled to be played at Turner's Cross in addition to the 31,000 sold on Monday. Those who had bought tickets for the Turner's Cross game will be placed in the South Stand.
Stand tickets have already sold out but terrace tickets are still available.
Squads for the game, which will be played between a Manchester United XI and a Celtic/Ireland XI, were announced last week. The Manchester United team, managed by Roy Keane, features names such as Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes. Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne, Keith Andrews, Shaun Maloney will play for a side managed by Martin O'Neill.
Funds from the match will go towards Liam Miller's family. The former Ireland, Celtic, Manchester United and Cork City player died earlier this year from pancreatic cancer. Passing just days shy of his 37th birthday, Miller left behind his wife Clare and three children. Marymount Hospice will also benefit from the game.
Tickets can be purchased via Tickets.ie and also selected SuperValu and Centra stores.
