Liam Brady: Man Utd Missing 'X-Factor' Player Like Philippe Coutinho

Manchester United fans would have been delighted with their team's result in what could have been a tricky away tie in Russia on Wednesday night, but those who stuck around to watch the RTÉ analysis of the game wouldn't have been too thrilled with what the panel had to say.

Despite praising the job that Mourinho has done with United in the pre-match discussion, there was not many positives to be drawn from the result as Richie Sadlier, Liam Brady, and Eamon Dunphy were all of the opinion that CSKA Moscow were so poor that the game was essentially meaningless.

After discussing the need to totally reform the Champions League and weed out the filler teams, Brady and Dunphy shared their views on Man Utd.

While Roy Keane over on ITV claimed that the Manchester giants were 'back', the Liam and Eamon were yet to be convinced with Brady claiming that United were missing a player of the calibre of Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, or Philippe Coutinho.

Do you not think there's an 'X-Factor' missing? A really world-class player missing from that team that can make the difference that some of the other clubs have.

The usual suspects, I'm talking about players like Ronaldo, Messi and Bale. I'd even throw Coutinho in - a player that can change a game on his own. I don’t think Manchester United have that, even though they have power and they have the strength.

It wouldn't have gone down too well with the Man Utd fans watching at home, and sure enough some took to social media to express their displeasure with Brady mentioning Coutinho alongside the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

Eamon Dunphy agreed and continued to argue that Manchester United's defense is not good enough to see them compete in the Champions League, although he does expect them to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Mourinho has formed a much-improved squad from what was seen last season, and will likely strengthen further next summer with many believing that Antoine Griezmann is still destined for Old Trafford, so it remains to be seen whether or not that 'gamechanging' player is acquired in the coming years...

But it won't be Philippe Coutinho, that's for sure.
