Leo Messi has ended speculation regarding his future by signing a new contract with Barcelona.
Messi's previous deal was due to expire during the summer. Had he not put pen to paper, he would have been able to negotiate with other clubs from January.
The new deal will keep 30-year-old at Barcelona until 2021. By that time, he will have played 17 seasons for the club.
In a statement, Barcelona said that the Argentinian signed the new contract on Saturday morning. His buyout clause has been set at €700m.
He made his debut 4,788 days ago.
He has played 602 games.
He has scored 523 goals.
He has won 30 trophies.
