Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been fined £2,500 and handed a suspended two match ban by the Scottish FA after he admitted to singing 'offensive and insulting' lyrics regarding ex-Hearts player Rudi Skacel.

The incident occurred in March of last year before an Edinburgh derby between Hibs and Hearts.

Griffiths was filmed in the Roseburn Bar standing on a chair singing “Rudi Skacel is a fucking refugee”.

In a statement issued by Celtic earlier this month, Griffiths apologised for his behaviour.

I made a mistake, I wrongly became involved in this incident and did not fully consider my actions. I apologise unreservedly for this.

I am pleased that the judge felt no further action was required. However this is a matter which I have absolutely learned from.

He has also been fined four weeks wages by his club.
