A friendly between Leeds United's U23s and Rhyl FC had to be abandoned on Tuesday evening following some ugly scenes involving both teams.

Leeds coach Carlos Corberan reportedly removed his side from the field after a brawl broke out off the ball during the second half.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Rhyl FC said it would be conducting an investigation into the incident.

Following the abandonment of the friendly match between Rhyl FC and a Leeds United XI this evening (21 November) the club will now launch an internal investigation into the incidents, which resulted in the match being halted during the second half.

The club will issue no further statement until the completion of this work.

Two Irish players - Paudie O'Connor and Eoghan Stokes - were part of the Leeds team. O'Connor, who is from Limerick, had a punch thrown at him by a Rhyl player during the scuffles.

The 20-year, who captained the Leeds XI, had reportedly stepped in to protect teammate Bryce Hosannah after an overly physical challenge had sparked the fight.
