Three Refs Jailed For Accepting Sexual Favours In Exchange For Fixing Match

Three Lebanese referees have been sentenced to time in jail in Singapore for accepting sexual favours in exchange for agreeing to fix an Asian Football Confederations Cup match between Singapore side, Tampines Rovers and Indian side, East Bengal on April 3rd.

The three were found out before the game and replaced by alternate officials.

Match referee, Ali Sabbagh along with his two assistants, Ali Eid and Abdallah Taleb took the services worth $400 following an agreement with a Singapore-based syndicate.

The two assistants have each received sentences of three months while the judge is taking time to consider Sabbagh's sentence as he was the one who convinced the other two to accepted the services.
