Leanne Kiernan came off the bench to score a dramatic goal as Liverpool derailed Chelsea's Women's Super League title bid on Wednesday night.
With the scores locked at 2-2 late in the game, and Chelsea needing a win to keep pace with WSL leaders Manchester City, Kiernan brilliantly latched onto a through ball to give Liverpool the lead just 10 minutes after coming off the bench.
There was still time for more goals, as Chelsea equalised before Gemma Bonner scored an injury-time winner for the hosts, to all but end the Blues' bid for a fifth title in a row.
A fantastic ball from @Ceriholland_11 that @kiernan_leanne finishes with style! 🤩#BarclaysWSL @LiverpoolFCW pic.twitter.com/M13DQE5YOH

Leanne Kiernan post brilliant response on Instagram
From an Irish perspective, it was great to see Cavan native Kiernan play such a big role in deciding the destination of the title, and Sky Sports commentator Gary Taphouse must have gotten caught up in all the drama too, as he added 10 years to her age.
Taphouse mentioned that Kiernan was 35, when in fact she only turned 25 last weekend. Afterwards, she clearly got wind of the gaffe, as she posted "not bad for 35" alongside some celebratory photos on Instagram.
It was clearly an error from Taphouse made in the heat of the moment, and he made sure to clear things up in the comment section of Kiernan's post.
"Oh my goodness Leanne, I'm so sorry about that!" he wrote. "In all the excitement I misread my writing. Really well played, congrats on the win and I hope you can forgive me this one slip. Proper brain freeze, I'm afraid."
Leanne Kiernan revels in big goal
No harm done of course, and Kiernan is most likely too busy revelling in her big moment, after an injury-hit couple of years that saw her miss out on representing Ireland in the Women's World Cup last summer.
Hopefully, she can kick on from here, as Liverpool look to pip Manchester United to fourth spot in the table, with the two sides meeting in the penultimate round of fixtures this Sunday.
