It's the opening weekend in the League of Ireland.

History is set to be made today as Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers go head-to-head in front of a record crowd at the Aviva Stadium.

Already this weekend; Shelbourne have defeated Derry City 3-1, Pats and Drogheda split the spoils in a scoreless draw, a late equaliser saw Galway and Cork finish 2-2 in Turners Cross and Waterford handed Sligo a high-scoring 3-2 defeat.

However, despite the manic start, Sunday's Dublin derby is set to be the showpiece in front of an expected crowd of over 32, 000 people - a new league record.

We'll keep you posted with every twist and turn on this opening weekend.

Speaking after the game, Rovers manager Stephen Bradley set out his stall for the season ahead.

"This is what we want, this is what this club is about, this is what we're here for."

"Domestically last year, the first part, we let ourselves down. We were nowhere near good enough.

"We know that if we do that again this year, that we're out of it.

"How we ended up in a title race last year, I'll never know.

"We know that, we know it wasn't good enough.

"We have to enjoy tonight, winning away in Europe, they're special nights.
