No other Irish football club has got a grasp of online marketing quite like the recently founded Cabinteely FC, as they have attracted headlines in publications from across the world for things like their Football Manager challenge.
After Leicester City beat Watford 1-0 on Saturday evening, they sit five points clear of Spurs at the top of the Premier League with nine games left to play, which is a frankly ridiculous feat considering at the start of 2015 they were dead last and staring relegation in the face.
Cabinteely are also flying high having claimed maximum points from their start to the season... All three points from one game, that is.
Goal difference is why Cabo are currently top of the SSE Airtricity First Division, and they seized the moment to extend a cheeky invitation to Riyad Mahrez and his friends:
As a team that started the 2016 season at odds of 80/1 to win the SSE Airtricity First Division, no one expected us to ever be top of the league, so naturally we are making the most of it while we can!
We have an invitation for Leicester City, a team that no one expected would be top of their league. If we both win our respective leagues, let’s organise a friendly to celebrate. We look forward to hearing from you, best of luck for the rest of the season.
But the real selling point was the league table comparisons:
'No Data exists', well played.
It's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone at Leicester sees this and sets it up, so hopefully we see the Dublin club welcome the new Premier League champions (if they manage to hold on, of course) to Ireland during the summer.
