One of the rarest displays of philanthropy we've ever seen from a footballer. Laurent Koscielny has donated €600,000 to rescue an accordion factory in his home town.
The Arsenal defender grew up nearby the accordion factory in the town of Tulle, according to the Guardian. The factory was no ordinary accordion factory but the oldest accordion factory in the country no less.
We accept that John O'Shea did not have enough financial firepower to step in and rescue Waterford Crystal but it will be interesting to see if footballers will step in to keep struggling businesses alive. Niall Quinn is no doubt reeling from the news that he is no longer football's most noteworthy philanthropist.
