Earlier in the week it looked like Robbie Brady was finally about to secure his move to the Premier League, with Crystal Palace apparently submitting a £14 million bid for the Irishman's services. It has since transpired that Brady was essentially a bargaining chip for Sam Allardyce, and he instead spent his £14 million on Sunderland's Patrick Van Aanholt.
Brady played for Norwich in the Championship yesterday, setting up a goal in a 2-0 win against Birmingham City. Brady may yet seal that long-awaited return to the Premier League, however, with Burnley in pole position to secure his services.
Alex Neill was asked about Brady's future after yesterday's win, replying that "it depends on finding a replacement and getting the right fee".
Per Paul Rowan of the Sunday Times, Burnley's failure to sign Robert Snodgrass from Hull - the midfielder chose West Ham instead - means that the club retain interest in uniting Brady with Irish colleagues Jeff Hendrick and Stephen Ward.
From an Irish point of view, it will be great to have Brady playing at a higher level, although should he be seen by Sean Dyche as a left-back, it might have negative implications for Stephen Ward.
