Arsenal beat Sydney FC 2-0 in their first pre-season friendly of the season at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Friday.

Per Mertesacker grabbed the opening goal for Arsene Wenger's side after just four minutes. The score remained 1-0 to Arsenal for the remainder of the half.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Arsenal had an opportunity to double their advantage but Danny Welbeck missed from the spot.

A second goal would come for Arsenal.

Record signing Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench to replace Welbeck after 68 minutes. 15 minutes later, he had the ball in the back for the net, his first goal for Arsenal, after he was found with a late run into the box by Alex Iwobi.
