It took ten minutes for the first goal to be scored at Anfield this evening in Liverpool's quarter final Champions League tie against Man City. A frenetic start by Liverpool was rewarded when Salah was released down the middle by Jordan Henderson.
The Egyptian laid the ball off to Firmino who cut back on his left and hit a weak shot at Emerson. After a goalmouth scramble where Kyle Walker made two horrendous attempts to clear the ball, the chance fell to Mohamed Salah who fired the ball home to give Liverpool the lead.
The goal probably should have been chalked off for offside as Salah did look to be marginally beyond the last defender when released by Henderson.
It was to get even better for the Reds as Alex Oxlade Chamberlain drove home on 20 minutes to double their advantage.
Amazingly, Liverpool would go 3-0 up on 30 minutes. Mané heading home from a Salah cross.
The match has been a fiercely entertaining contest so far. City have looked shellshocked in the first half and will need to compose themselves if they are to get back in this tie.
