Kyle Lafferty has issued an apology after he was handed a ten game ban by the Scottish Football Association after being found guilty for using sectarian language.
This comes after a video was shared on social media last month showing Kyle Lafferty making a sectarian remark to a man in a bar after he said, “Up the Celts.”
This prompted anger on social media, leading to an investigation into the incident, where he called the man a “Fenian B******.

Following Kilmarnock’s own investigation, the club announced Kyle Lafferty received a substantial fine for his actions.
Lafferty is judged to have broken an SFA rule that specifies that no player should “use offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or actions which includes a reference to ethnic religion, colour, race or nationality.

The Northern Ireland striker was dropped for the UEFA Nations League fixtures against Kosovo and Greece at the time of the incident.
The ban will see Kyle Lafferty be out of action until January. Following the announcement of the ban, Kyle Lafferty has condemned his actions.
“I want to deeply apologise to the club, supporters and my family for the distress caused for the past month. O totally acknowledge that my reaction to the incident was completely out of order.
There is no excuse, it’s something that I immediately regretted and have been embarrassed about ever since. I absolutely accept that I should not have responded to provocation in that manner.
I placed myself in a position that has been very difficult to deal with, so I’m now determined to work with Nil By Mouth (Scotland’s leading anti-sectarian charity) to ensure that others, particularly the youngsters at the club, learn from my mistake and avoid putting themselves in any type of similar situation in the future.”
