It's clear that Neil Lennon's time at Celtic is quickly coming to a close. Be it in the coming days or at the end of the season, you can expect to see the 49-year old move on at some stage soon.
This season has been nothing short of a disaster for the Scottish champions. Their quest to win a tenth consecutive league title never really got off the ground, while their European efforts were equally disappointing.
Whoever replaces Lennon will have a sizeable task on their hands. The recruitment at Celtic has been poor for the last few seasons, and with the club often hesitant to invest heavily in players, rejuvenating the squad will not be easy.
One man who has been linked with the position is Rafael Benitez. The former Liverpool boss recently left his post at Chinese club Dalian Professional, with rumours quickly circulating that he could be offered a role in Glasgow.
It remains to be seen if that will be the case, but Spanish journalist Guillem Balague believes Benitez is unlikely to end up at Celtic.
Rafa Benitez to Celtic? There was interest in him but not an option today
He's going to rest for a bit, despite offers (from Germany, also a national side...)
By the way, about Celtic: there is a false document doing the rounds (check the phone number 😂) https://t.co/X40LCU1riq— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) January 24, 2021
This will be unwelcome news for Celtic supporters, with a manager boasting the type of track record Benitez does likely to excite was has become a disgruntled fan base.
However, those on the other side of Glasgow would be delighted if the Spaniard does not end up in the Scottish Premiership.
Kris Boyd even took to Instagram to poke a bit of fun at the notion that the Champions League winning manager would end up at Celtic.
Be it Benitez or another manager, it is clear that some fresh ideas are desperately needed at Parkhead.
