What are they putting in the water in Norway? At 16 years of age and less than a week after making his full debut for Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard is old news.
Well, not really, he's an incredibly talented young man who is already playing and training with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, and James Rodgriguez with a good 10 years until he should be reaching his peak, but his record of being the youngest player ever to play in his native Norway's football leagues has just been smashed.
Meet Kreshnik Krasniqi, a 14 year old boy who has been deemed good enough to play with a bunch of full grown men who are paid to play football for a living.
At 14 years, five months, and three days, Krasniqi made his debut for Honefoss in the Norweigian equivalent of the Championship on Monday night as he came on for the final four minutes of his side's 3-1 win over Nest-Sotra.
His manager has described him as a technically gifted player who he had no reservations about throwing into first team action, and the lad himself has expressed his delight at being given a chance to play so early in his career, but unlike Odegaard, it would seem that he has no intention to represent Real Madrid any time soon:
My team is Barcelona. It's a small dream to play there.
Hopefully he resisted the urge to celebrate the win with his teammates, instead opting for a more appropriate form of entertainment such as a few games of FIFA and a marathon of YouTube videos before bedtime.
Kreshnik Krasniqi, remember the name.
