Irish football fans and perhaps Katie McCabe herself woke up to a somewhat surprising video this morning. Not often would Kim Kardashian's name be associated with Irish football, but after Arsenal's Europa League defeat to Sporting Lisbon last night, that changed.

Kim Kardashian brought her children and friends to the Emirates to watch an entertaining European tie, but it was her Instagram post which gathered more media attraction from Ireland than the result itself.

The Reality TV superstar shared this video of her and Kanye West's son Saint Roi with his friends watching the game to her whopping 348 million Instagram followers.

Katie McCabe has become a household name to young footballers across Ireland over the past few years after consistantly performing at the highest level for one of the giants of the Women's Super League.

It now seems that the Ireland Women's National Team captain has gained popularity across the Atlantic with Saint Roi donning her jersey while watching the Arsenal men's team.

It's safe to say Irish football Twitter exploded after the video surfaced last Thursday evening.

Sadly for Saint Roi and The Gunners, it wasn't to be after they were knocked out of the Europa League on penalties.

Mikel Arteta's side got the tie off to a great start after Granit Xhaka's opener inside the first 20 minutes. The tie was turned upside down just after the hour mark when Pedro Goncalves produced a moment of magic to beat Aaron Ramsdale with his effort from the halfway line.

Goncalves' wondergoal took the game to extra-time where the sides still couldn't be seperated. Gabriel Martinelli ended up being the Arsenal man who missed his effort during the penalty shootout, earning Sporting Lisbon a place in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
