Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has given the club and its fans a massive boost on Monday by putting pen to paper on a bumper six-year contract, tying him down until 2023.
Tierney is on the verge of passing 100 appearances in the green and white hoops despite being just 20-years of age, and after a summer of speculation linking him to the likes of Manchester United this news will go down very well in one half of Glasgow.
Celtic fans have been declaring Tierney a future Celtic captain since he broke into the first-team in the 2015/16 season, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. While the new contract will not end other clubs' interest in the player, it will make it a lot more difficult to pry him away from Parkhead. The length of the deal also suggests he will be around long enough to become club captain at some point in the future.
Celtic shared the news to their delighted supporters on Monday evening.

A boyhood Celtic fan, the supporters are madly in love with Tierney not just for the fact that he is one of the most promising young defenders in European football, but he fully understands what it means to play for the club.
His future as captain is seen as an inevitability for the leadership he shows on the pitch and the way he conducts himself off it.
Fantastic news for all associated with Celtic.
