Irish players making their way to Italy has been a rarity in recent years, it has happened in the past. Liam Brady had a successful stint in the 1980s, while Robbie Keane also spent six months at Inter Milan at the turn of the century.
There haven't been any Irish players to feature in Serie A since, although there were rumours that Jeff Hendrick could make his way to the league this summer. That move has yet to come to fruition but a different Irish player could be heading to Italy.
Neil O'Riordan of The Sun is reporting that Shamrock Rovers youth player Kevin Zefi looks set to join Inter Milan in the near future.
Zefi, who has also played for St Kevin's, has been scouted by some of Europe's biggest clubs after catching the eye with his performances for the Ireland U15 team, which included two goals in a 3-1 win over England last December.
He had received an invitation to train with PSV Eindhoven, with Juventus also interested in the winger. It is believed that Inter have moved to the front of the queue for his signature, however.

There has been some Irish representation in the Inter academy in recent years, with Clare-born Ryan Nolan spending four years at the club. While he captained them at underage level and made the bench for a couple of Europa League games, he never made a first team appearance. He is now on the books at Serie C side Arezzo.
