Kevin Doyle made a goalscoring return to action last night as Colorado Rapids beat Seattle Sounders 3-1.

He was out of action since suffering that nasty cut to his leg during Ireland's friendly with Switzerland last month.

The Wexford man entered the action as a 78th minute substitute. Eight minutes later, he had scored his first of the season, though he was slightly offside - something missed by the assistant referee.

Doyle turned home a tempting cross from Dennis Castillo with a deft touch to make the game 3-1 to his side.
