The nearly 39-year-old got on the end of a long ball over the top of the Rangers defence, taking advantage of some sloppy defending from Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson to nick the ball past Allan McGregor.
It was Miller's sixth goal of the season and one he refused to celebrate against his former club.
Andy Halliday scored an equaliser for Rangers 12 minutes later.
