Celtic's plight in their difficult Champions League group continues: they have been battered 3-0 in the Allianz Arena by a rampant Bayern Munich, invigorated once again under Jupp Heynckes.
Brendan Rodgers' team were thoroughly dismantled by their illustrious opponents, with Bayern sealing a badly-needed win through Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, and Mats Hummels. In an indictment of the Celtic defence, all three came via penalty-box header: the latter two directly, the first from the rebound of a Robert Lewandowski header. Ultimately, 3-0 flattered Celtic.
Speaking on Eir Sport, former Irish captain Kenny Cunningham was extremely critical of Brendan Rodgers. While he admitted that he expected Celtic to struggle defensively, Cunningham instead excoriated Celtic's attack, claiming that Rodgers' philosophy "doesn't stand up at this level", likening his desire to pass the ball through Bayern to "football suicide" while dropping in a word he presumably picked him from RTE colleagues while covering a few minows at a World Cup: naive.
"Such naive play, I couldn't believe what I was seeing" - Some strong words from Kenny Cunningham on Brendan Rodgers. #FCBCEL pic.twitter.com/Ys9KzHUYeA
