It wasn't the most convincing Manchester United performance, but they got the job done against Spurs this evening thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star netted a brilliant hat-trick to secure a 3-2 victory for his side.
However, questions will still be asked about some aspects of their display. They looked particularly suspect at the back, giving up quite a few chances to a Tottenham side who themselves were well short of their peak form.
Harry Maguire once again looked a bit off at times, although you couldn't accredit much blame to him for the own goal that he scored. The Englishman turned the ball into his own net, but he was forced into making an intervention in order to stop an excellent Sergio Reguilon cross.
That didn't stop Cristian Romero from having a word. The Spurs man would seek out Maguire and shout in his face after he scored the OG.

Of course, United would have the last laugh when Ronaldo scored the winner a few minutes later.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, and Michael Dawson all admitted that they were not impressed with Romero's conduct during this incident.
🗣 "It comes back to haunt you, things like that"

Keane: Not good. You'll get no luck for that...
Neville: Yeah that's no good.
Keane: You remember when you're a player you take note of that. Don't worry.
Dawson: It comes back to haunt you, things like that. Certainly as a defender, you make mistakes. Things like that don't go right. You don't need to see that. It could be you next week.
Keane: You take note of that.
Of course, Keane wasn't one to hold a grudge during his own playing days.
Romero has impressed since joining the club last summer, although he has taken some criticism for this incident.
The result bolstered United's top four push, moving them two points ahead of Arsenal although Mikel Arteta's side do have four games in hand.
