What should have been the highlight of Loris Karius's career became a nightmare last night as the 24-year-old made two hugely cost errors that gifted Real Madrid two goals and the Champions League. He was left inconsolable after the game, while the social media reaction was particularly vicious.

In the aftermath of the game Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp expressed his sympathy for the player: "I really feel for him. He is a fantastic boy, the first one... of course, the second one is because of the first one. Nobody in a game like this, it is really difficult to get rid of the bad thoughts in your mind."
Now Karius has taken to Twitter himself to address the Anfield faithful.
Haven’t really slept until now... the scenes are still running through my head again and again... I'm infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff. I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down... pic.twitter.com/w9GixPiQDC

...As I said I'd just like to turn back the time but that's not possible. It's even worse as we all felt that we could have beaten Real Madrid and we were in the game for a long time...

...Thank you to our unbelievable fans who came to Kiev and held my back, even after the game. I don't take that for granted and once again it showed me what a big family we are. Thank you and we will come back stronger.

Liverpool are likely to sign a replacement this summer, but Karius has been praised by Head of Club and Supporter Liaison for Liverpool, Tony Barrett for his response.
It’s for others more qualified to judge the football side but I haven’t seen many players display the bollocks that Karius showed after the game. Taking responsibility and apologising to supporters takes some guts. He could’ve lay low but he fronted it.
