Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema has posted a series of Instagram stories suggesting he's not at all happy with finishing third in the FIFA The Best Award results this week.
On Monday night, Messi was elected best male footballer at FIFA The Best Awards in Paris.
FIFA released the results on their website and Benzema wasn't even second, he came third behind Messi and Kylian Mbappe. Messi received 52 points, Mbappe 44 and Benzema 34.
Many surprise votes were revealed in the FIFA voting breakdown. David Alaba voted for Messi instead of teammate Benzema, French coach Didier Deschamps choose Benzema instead of Mbappe as first choice.
Karim Benzema's reaction to the result
The Real Madrid player was not impressed by the results. He has once again taken to social media to show his frustration after he came third.
On Tuesday night, Karim Benzema posted a photo from a fan account in his Instagram story that showed all the rewards he won throughout last year.
In that post we can see that he was the Champions League and La Liga top goalscorer, Champions League and Nations League winner with club and country. Most importantly, he won the Ballon d'or. There is also many other achievements he has done throughout 2022.
That photo was followed by another Instagram Story with an image of him smiling with the caption 'Bonne Nuit' which means 'Good Night' in French with a smiley.

This reaction comes one day after he posted on the same app a video in which we can hear: 'Liar. Yes you liar' in French with again the caption 'Bonne Nuit...'

It is clear to say that Karim Benzema, two days after the ceremony, is not pleased with the outcome of the awards. He was nearly sure of winning it after his excellent year with both Real Madrid and France team.
