Neil Lennon has confirmed that Karamoko Dembele could make his senior debut for Celtic when they play Hearts in the final round of the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
The 16-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects at the club. The Celtic manager also said that 19-year-old Ewan Henderson could feature in the game.
"He is a possibility for Sunday," Lennon said regarding Dembele at a press conference on Thursday morning.
He’s training with the squad this week, as is Ewan Henderson.
We’ve got boys that are carrying knocks and we don’t feel the need to risk them ahead of the cup final.
Dembele garnered major attention three years ago when he made his debut for the Celtic U20 team aged just 13. He signed his first professional contract in December. That ties him to Celtic until at least 2021.
Celtic also play Hearts in the Scottish Cup final on May 25th.
Lennon said that though Kieran Tierney and James Forrest will not be involved this weekend, they should be fit to play in the cup final.
Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved, who was signed by Celtic in January and then loaned back to Karpaty Lviv, has been training with his new team.
"He trained yesterday and looked great," said Lennon.
"We, unfortunately, can’t use him, but he’s a very exciting player and looked right at home with his teammates. He’s the type of player we enjoy at Celtic."
