VAR has had its critics in the past couple of seasons, but it has to be said that it gets most things right. However, tonight showed that it can still contribute to howlers.
Lyon headed to Juventus carrying a 1-0 lead in the Champions League last 16 tie, and they doubled that advantage from the penalty spot early on.
That is despite the fact that Houssem Aouar definitely wasn't fouled in this tackle.
ICYMI, this is how Lyon won their penalty earlier. 😬

Memphis Depay dispatched the spot kick, but the officials would level thing up soon after.
Juventus were given an equally outrageous penalty late in the first half, when Pjanic's fee-kick was adjudged to have been handled in the box by Depay. This is despite the fact that his hands were pressed against his body and the ball was heading straight for his stomach.
Juventus were awarded a penalty for this 'handball' against Memphis Depay.

Beggar's belief. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the resulting penalty, his 17th spot kick for club and country this season.
You'd have to wonder about the decision making here.
