Outrage In Italy As Juve Beat Milan Thanks To Harsh 97th Minute Penalty

Juventus pushed their lead at the top of Serie A to what very much looks like an unassailable 11 points on Friday night with an extremely narrow win over AC Milan, but the manner of the victory has sparked fierce debate in the aftermath of the game.

With the scores level at 1-1 in the 95rd minute (when only four minutes had been shown initially but due to protests from a red card shown in the 90th, two more minutes were seemingly added), Juventus were awarded a penalty after the ball struck the arm of Mattia De Sciglio just inside the box and gave Paulo Dybala the chance to secure all three points for Max Allegri's men.

The AC players were furious, and upon second viewing it did seem to be a very harsh call with the defender so close to the cross and having no time to react.

But Dybala stepped up and there was never any doubt as he fired the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma, who himself had an outstanding game in goal for AC and was very unlucky to have to have been on the losing side.

How's your composure, Paulo?

The result not only sends Juve pretty much out of sight at the top of the title, but is also very damaging to Milan's hopes of pushing for European Football.

You've certainly seen them given, but with his arm in a natural position and so little space between the players, it would have been interesting to see if it would have been awarded for the away team at the other end of the pitch.
