It looked like the Louis Van Gaal appointment as United manager was done and dusted but the Telegraph are reporting today that it has hit a snag over the amount of backroom staff Van Gaal will be allowed appoint.
The powers that be at United are adamant that some of the Class of 92 – especially Ryan Giggs – are kept on as coaches and given fairly prominent roles at that. However, apparently Van Gaal wants to bring in his own five-man team which would see the former United players pushed to the background.
The Telegraph say that Van Gaal wants to bring Patrick Kluivert and Danny Blind aboard, along with goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek, physio Jos van Dijk and analyst Max Reekers. This has left Ed Woodward worried that the 'thread of continuity' may all but disappear.
Should this problem prove fatal to the deal, it's understood that United would be hopeful of attracting Carlo Ancelotti if Real Madrid be eliminated from the Champions League tonight.
