Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the season at the Etihad this evening, with goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane giving Guardiola the win.

In his post match press conference, Jurgen Klopp was mostly magnanimous about his side's loss, but the German was visibly annoyed that Vincent Kompany had not faced further censure for his tackle on Mohamed Salah in the first half.

The Belgian centre half got the ball in a wild lunge on Salah after a heavy touch, and received a yellow for the challenge, though Klopp was adamant that the City captain should have seen their marching orders:

I really like Vincent Kompany but how on Earth is that not a red card? He is last man and he goes in. If he hits Mo [Salah] more he is out for the season.

Do we need blood? (for a red to be shown)

In the Sky Sports studio Gary Neville didn't think it was a red, while Jamie Carragher tended to agree with him, saying that 2/10 refs would have given a red card.

In slow motion it doesn't look great, and there definitely seemed to be a lack of control on Kompany's part, and the lack of injury on Salah's part does seem to have swayed the Anthony Taylor's decision somewhat, though City were well deserving of the win on the night, as they climb up to second spot, four points behind the Reds.
