Dubliner Conor Masterson took a place on Liverpool's bench for Wednesday night's stellar performance against Man City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
A mini injury crisis at centre-back - Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan were all injured - meant the 19-year-old former Lucan United player was named in Jurgen Klopp's matchday squad.
"Conor is a good boy," the Liverpool manager told RTÉ's Tony O'Donoghue after the game.
When Klopp told Masterson that he was going to be on the bench, his response was assured.
Very confident, I’m not sure if that’s typical for Ireland, but when I said to him this morning that he will be in the squad, he said ‘I’m ready man’, so that’s cool.
Masterson told RTÉ it was an incredible experience to be involved in a night which will live long in the memory of Liverpool fans.
"It was an unbelievable experience. Just going out to warm-up and to see the fans and the atmosphere, it was just surreal, really.
"The team was unbelievable, the performance: 3-0 against the best team in the country - well, they're going to be - it was just unbelievable.
"I like to come across confident, it’s a good thing to have. That’s just the way I am, I’m just being myself and I think that’s key to success.
"I have to thank Lucan United and everybody there who got me here."
