Liverpool's 3-2 loss to Arsenal yesterday gave them their worst start to a Premier League campaign in a decade, and manager Jurgen Klopp, often upbeat and smiling, sounded like a broken man in a post-match interview for Norwegian TV.
Liverpool were again expected to push Man City for the title this season, but find themselves 14 points off the top of the table after just eight games, with players looking lethargic and a shadow of last season's team.
After the loss, Jurgen Klopp gave an interview to Jan Aage Fjørtoft for Viaplay TV, where he discussed his side's poor showing and the questionable decisions from referee Michael Oliver.
"It's 2-2, away at Arsenal, open game, and then the situation around the penalty happens. And I think everyone agrees we should have kicked that ball a bit earlier over the roof.
Didn't do that, ball comes back, and it's a very soft, if [it was a penalty]. But we cannot take that back, first-half we don't get that back, that is the handball from Gabriel [Magalhaes].
The ref tells me you can talk to me after the game. I can ask him 'what do you think why?', and he will tell me 'this was no handball but this was a foul', so that's obviously not necessary this conversation.
A Forlorn Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp was equally glum when speaking to BBC Sport after the match, as he bemoaned the fact that his side left with zero points after what he felt was a good performance.
"We wanted to carry on the good stuff [from the first-half] but unfortunately we didn't do that," said Klopp. "We equalised, it was a really open game then. The situation around the penalty of course we should have cleared it.
"Now I saw it and I think you can imagine I don't think it is a clear penalty, it is a very soft one. I think it is a situation where the referee have another look at it in real time.
"Couple of things went against us but we are not blind, we see we could have done better in moments. In general it was a good away game against a good side. We caused them a lot of problems but stand here with no points."
