Perhaps he had dreams of Mourinho asking him to fill in a right back or the Chelsea manager requesting his thoughts on how best to deploy Oscar.
During the post-match press conference for Chelsea's loss to Bournemouth on Saturday evening - a result which leaves the reigning champions in 14th, just two points ahead of their injury-ravaged conquerors - one journalist had a bemusing question for Jose Mourinho.
Here's how the exchange went.
Journalist: Jose, you are a great manager, Chelsea is a big team and it's not good news for anyone to see Chelsea struggling. Is there anyway media can help to have Chelsea back to the competition... or the journalists.
Mourinho: [A bemused] Sorry?
Journalist: Is there anyway or any kind of solution [where] us journalists could help Chelsea, to help you get back to the competition?
Mourinho: The journalists?
Journalist: Yeah. Me, my colleagues.
Mourinho: I don't think so.
According to Michael Cox, that same media of the member had Jose Mourinho wallpaper on his tablet.
A journalist with a pic of Mourinho as his iPad background just asked Mourinho if there was any way the media could help Chelsea get better
