Jose Mourinho's post-match interview tonight was different to the one he delivered after the League Cup win earlier this season. On that occasion, he delivered lines to camera with a glumness usually reserved for vets telling children that their beloved family pet has died.
Tonight, however, he was utterly ecstatic as he maintained his 100% record in European finals on the night that Manchester United returned to the Champions League.
Here was his reaction at full-time:

He was equally exuberant during the post-match celebrations, and then retired to the dressing room for a while, before finally emerging to fulfill his post-game media duties with BT Sport.
Jose Mourinho's post-match interview on this occasion was far more triumphant, and he used it as justification for his conservative but no less effective gameplan. Included amid that justification is the line that "there are lots of poets in football but poets don't win many titles, presumably a dig at those footballing ideologues he has always treated with scorn. That this came against Ajax, one of the great incubators of footballing idealism, accentuates the point.
He also confirmed that he is now on holiday, and threw the gauntlet down to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who has now to deliver on the signings that Mourinho wants to push for the league next season.
Oh, and he got his usual complaint about United's number of injuries in once again.
