Paul Pogba's form with Manchester United has been a big discussion point this month. Due to his ridiculous contract, Pogba will always be a lightning rod for criticism. Still, in light of the Bournemouth draw at Old Trafford and the defeat at Stamford Bridge last night, a faction of United fans are publicly asking themselves if €93m should get you more than 7 goals and 4 assists, especially in light of N'Golo Kante's performance last night, who was worth three or four players, depending on what pundit you were listening to. Kante left Leicester for a mere €35 million.
Well the fans can sod off because Jose Mourinho is delighted with Pogba's performance last night. He was dishing out sarcastic rebukes to ref Michael Oliver, but he was 100% genuine when discussing Pogba's role in Man United's defeat last night.
"We have to be positive, the players were phenomenal but Pogba was by far the best player on the pitch," Mourinho said after the game.
"He was a giant on the pitch. After him, all my other boys were fantastic."
"The specialists will say a lot about him and it comes from envy. They will never ever earn 10 percent of what he does."
Mourinho is certainly right about the last statement, but what are we to make of the rest of the quotes? The best player on the pitch? Was he even United second best player?
The stats tell their own story.

The real question is what would Pogba be like outside of Mourinho's system. Perhaps Mourinho is trying to keep his best-paid player on side before he loses another dressing room.
Just a theory.
