Jose Mourinho will face no FA punishment for his post-match actions in the wake of Manchester United's 3-2 defeat of Newcastle United in the Premier League. According to reports, Liverpool's Jordan Henderson played an inadvertent role in the Portuguese walking free.
Coming on a weekend where rumours had begun to swirl regarding Mourinho's imminent departure from Manchester United, the result against Rafa Benitez's Newcastle granted the Portuguese an extended stay of execution.
In what was reportedly a barb against his critics within the British football media, Jose Mourinho was captured on the BT cameras allegedly saying "fodas filhos de puta", which translates as "fuck off sons of bitches."
What may have initially been assumed to be a fairly open and shut case, the FA are reportedly shocked that the independent commission in question decided not to impose a punishment on the Manchester United manager.
According to reports in The Times, a "strong" United defence of their manager improbably cited Liverpool's Jordan Henderson as an example of why Mourinho should be exonerated of any wrongdoing.
Focusing their attention on an incident involving the Liverpool midfielder while on international duty with England, Henderson was caught swearing during the recent UEFA Nations League clash against Croatia.
A match played behind closed doors, the TV microphones picked up on a brief verbal exchange between Henderson and the Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic; "Are you the fucking ref?"
Henderson was allegedly responding to Dalic's protests regarding a potential handball incident.
In what is reported to have been a crucial element of United's case, Henderson was not punished for the incident in question.
