With rumours swirling that he is to be sacked irrespective of Manchester United's result against Newcastle United this weekend, Jose Mourinho made the curious decision to arrive at Old Trafford especially early ahead of today's game.

Scheduled to kick-off at 5:30pm, Mourinho and his staff were said to arrive before 12:00pm this afternoon.

A significant change to his routine in light of the rumours that emerged last night, Jose Mourinho addressed the situation in discussion with BT Sport in his pre-match comments.

Interviewer: Was this just a change of routine, or are you shaking things up?

Jose Mourinho: No, I was advised by the structure of the club that from the hotel to the training ground it would be probably a minimum of 75 minutes. When you are in your own city, your own stadium, and you have 75 minutes minimum on the bus, I think that this is quite hard to accept. So, we decided to come direct to the stadium early in the morning.

Hinting back to an issue that has plagued Manchester United on a number of occasions over the past couple of seasons, a vast portion of fans will undoubtedly be left wondering how much longer that hotel reservation will be kept going.
