A strange report has surfaced in The Mirror this evening that claims Jose Mourinho's house was targeted by a burglar during the final of Euro 2016.

Rather than a detailed plot to target the house when Mourinho may have been elsewhere, the details read like something from America's Dumbest Criminals.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho watched as a burglar attempted to break into his London home, it has been revealed.

Jose was watching the Euro 2016 Portugal - France match on TV when the 25 year old intruder tried to force the basement door to the £25million house.

Jose was watching his home nation in action against France when he heard a scream from his house-keeper who was ironing in the basement at the time. She had seen an Eastern European man enter the basement and asked him "What are you doing here?", which prompted the man to turn and attempt to flee.

However, he was soon met by a member of Mourinho's security team who had watched the burglar go to a number of houses in the area and try to open doors on the off chance that they had been left open. The same security man then called the police, and waited for the right time to catch the burglar.

It was later revealed that the maid was doing the ironing when she spotted the intruder trying to get in through the basement door.

The raider tried to flee but a security guard who had been tracking him blocked his path.

A team of eight police officers dashed to the central London house and led the intruder away in handcuffs as Manchester United manager Mourinho and wife Matilde Faria watched from a window.

The intruder is said to have initially tried to fight the guard who nabbed him, but eventually thought better of it and smoked a cigarette until the police arrived.

Rather than planning out his burglary attempts, it seems as if the man was in the area and simply decided to try his luck. Apparently, he's not a very lucky guy.

An onlooker told The Mirror that Jose looked "dumbfounded" during the ordeal, and you have to imagine that after Eder scored the winning goal in the Euro 2016 final, Mourinho must have thought that he was dreaming the whole thing.
